Mercedes-Benz EQE Looks Ready for Production in New Spy Shots

Giancarlo Perlas March 23, 2021

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is certainly generating a lot of buzz online but looming in the background is its smaller sibling, the Mercedes-Benz EQE that is set to challenge the Tesla Model S. The EQE electric vehicle has been confirmed for September debut following the August launching of the EQS.

Since we are barely six months away from the EQE’s official launch, the EV was recently spied in its near-production look. The car in the spy shots is still clad in full camo save for the roof but the contours and bulges within the wraps as well as the peeking components already tell us a lot about the direction Mercedes is taking in terms of its design.

Unlike the lift-back EQS, the EQE will bear a sedan styling. It has a conventional trunk lid with a subtle spoiler and a brake light. The EV also possesses a swooping side layout, short overhang and thick black side skirts that are likely concealing the battery pack. Moreover, the cutout portions of the near-production auto shows some sensors and large pair of headlamps with LED daytime running lights on top.

There’s no word yet about the output of the car’s electric motor. We have no idea yet about its electric range too, but if it gets the same mechanical configuration as the EQS, it might get at least a 700-km range from a full charge.

Both the EQE and EQS are expected to get their respective SUV spin-offs. The earliest release of the said models will likely happen in 2022.
