Mercedes-Benz EQE Spied Cruising at Night

Giancarlo Perlas February 3, 2021

Mercedes-Benz is working hard to live up to its promise to deliver at least 10 all-new pure electric vehicles going to 2022 despite the hiccups brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. After its official teaser for the Mercedes-Benz EQE, the three-pointed star mark is following it up with its thorough testing.

Recently, the upcoming EQE was spied while cruising in the dark. The new video from walkoART on YouTube gives us a moment to appreciate the lights of the EV at work.

The electric car is still wrapped in heavy camouflage, and it appears very muscular on the spy video. However, it looks like the covers are merely hiding some paddings that intend to hide the true form of the EV.

The real design of the EQE’s production version is still hard to tell at this point. Basing on inside sources though, the front profile of the EQE is expected to follow many of the styling elements found on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Meanwhile, its rear will get a liftback outline following the look of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS. With that, the EQE will be a bit shorter than the E-Class on the outside but it comes without compromise to its legroom inside. The car is said to carry over some of the interior elements of the current S-Class too.

The EQE will ride on the new dedicated EV platform of Mercedes. The same architecture is the one used by the upcoming EQS. This will allow an all-wheel-drive system with an electric motor positioned on each of its axles.

The recent trademark filings of Mercedes with the European Union Intellectual Property Office also confirm that the EV will feature EQE 43, EQE 53, and EQE 63 variants. The numbers suggest that these trims belong in the AMG category.
