Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class Presents New Safety Features

Giancarlo Perlas July 25, 2020

The three-pointed star marque continues to build up anticipation for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The company is once again gearing to release another teaser for its flagship luxury car titled “Meet the S-Class DIGITAL #2: Innovation by intelligence”. The presentation provides a quick look at the vehicle’s safety features.

The new video is scheduled to be released in a few days. According to Mercedes, it highlights the new airbags of the S-Class that are specifically designed to protect the rear-seat passengers and the PRE-SAFE Impulse Side system with the E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL active suspension.

Rear Seat Airbags

Mercedes said that the rear passenger airbags are an “entirely different concept than the front airbags.” That’s because they were made to adapt to child seats, and not only to adult passengers.

PRE-SAFE Impulse Side Function

The system is a product of Mercedes’ years of research and testing on different accident scenarios. It works together with the E-Active Body Control suspension of the car, which raises the elevation of the entire vehicle when the sensors detect a high probability of collision on its sides. The function also goes hand-in-hand with the tech of Mercedes that allows movement of the front passengers towards the center of the auto using the air cushions of the seats when a crash is imminent.

More Information to be Released Soon

A new video that discusses more the new safety features of the next-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be launched by Mercedes through its dedicated media platform on July 29, 2020.
