Mercedes-Benz X-Class Gets Cosmetic Upgrades from Carlex Design
Giancarlo Perlas July 7, 2020Pickup Design, the pickup division of Carlex Design, just made a total overhaul on the look of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. The modifications further improve the off-road capabilities of the auto too.
The one-off X-Class is no longer in production because Mercedes no longer considers it “economically viable”. Many tuners, including Carlex, have continued unlocking the numerous potentials of the pickup despite its discontinuation.
Since 2018, we have seen Pickup Design take the X-Class to different levels. Among them were the Maybach-inspired version of the pickup and the EXY package of the company. Recently, the company released its Exy Extreme+ that introduces new exterior, interior, and mechanical upgrades to the auto.
Exterior
Outside, the new Pickup Design X-Class features new bumpers, grille, bonnet with air intakes, front lip, headlamp housings, side mirror caps, rear spoiler, extended fenders, front skid plate, LED roof lights, side steps, and rollbar. It also has 18-inch alloy wheels with 33-inch Radar Renegade RT+ POR 118Q tires.
The pickup comes in white finish with contrasting black accents for its accessories. Yellow letterings and linings on the wheels adorn the vehicle as well.
Interior
The interior is mostly covered in black leather, which comes in contrast with the white exterior of the X-Class. Again, yellow linings put emphasis on the key areas of the cabin like in the steering wheel and seat covers.
Performance
The X-Class maintains its stock engine but Pickup Design gives it a new suspension that lifts its ride height by 10 mm. The exhaust system of the unit is redesigned too but it does not seem to offer any significant power boost.
