2020 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 Spied on a Test Drive

There’s a sighting of another Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle in the works. This time, it’s the 2020 model of the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63.

Even with the heavy zebra camouflage covering almost everything, the dimensions, body shape, stance, and windows design definitely suggest that what we are looking at is most likely the GLS SUV. However, those who are very familiar with the brand might notice that the auto is a high-performance variant.

We have already seen the 2019 GLS in another spy video earlier. It should be recalled that Mercedes didn’t even bother hiding the front grille of the vehicle. The one here though has its radiator grille covered, which hints that there could be changes there. Perhaps the camo on that part is concealing a Panamericana grille, which is now a standard with AMG models.

Other clues that the SUV is probably the AMG GLS 63 are the series of openings on its lower front fascia. The previous spy video only shows the GLS with a single air vent on the base of the bumper. Moreover, the wheel arches of the new prototype appear to be extended a bit. On the other hand, the vehicle seems lacking sidesteps on the sides.

The spy video does not give us a nice peek at the interior of the auto. However, being the sibling of the S-Class, expect nothing lesser than the quality offered by Mercedes’ flagship car in the GLS. So aside from the high-class detailing in the S-Class, huge displays with the MBUX multimedia system plus an array of semi-autonomous driving features are the elements that we are looking forward to when the AMG GLS 63’s final version arrives.
