Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV to Debut at Auto Guangzhou

Giancarlo Perlas November 15, 2019

Spy shots of the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS continue to surface online. The recent images and videos show the ultra-luxurious sport utility vehicle taking a stroll with only a little camouflage, which indicates that its official unveiling is very near. The media site of Daimler officially confirmed just that.

Very little info has been revealed by Daimler so far about the Mercedes-Maybach SUV. The parent of Mercedes said that the auto will be based on the GLS, the brand’s largest and most luxurious SUV, but it will have bigger proportions to make way for more space inside, more comfort and more premium elements.

Basically, expect the same level of boost given by Maybach to the S-Class when it comes to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS to justify its rumored pricing of around $200,000. That’s about $76,000 more than the base model of the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

With that, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will certainly get more opulent accents on its exterior that’s highlighted by the Maybach badge and new wheels. Then it will have more posh elements inside with more attention poured in its comfort features to make sure that the rear passengers will enjoy their ride. Maybach will most probably replace the rear seats with captain chairs.

Although there’s no official confirmation as of yet, the 4.0-liter V8 matched with a mild-hybrid system, similar to the setup of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 580, is expected for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. That should take its output to at least 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS will make its world premiere at the Auto Guangzhou in China on November 22, 2019. As usual, we will surely update everyone if ever leaks will be made available prior to the event.
