After the long wait, the Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC+ and Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ finally arrive. The two just made their world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed near Chichester, West Sussex, England. New “S” variants mark the new range-topping trims of the series.

Revamped Designs

The new AMG A45 and AMG CLA45 stand out from their standard Mercedes models with their Panamericana grille featuring vertical slats, aggressive front bumpers, protruding rear spoilers, quadruple exhaust and 18-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the AMG A45 S and AMG CLA45 S come with 19-inch wheels complemented by large red calipers with the “AMG” lettering.

The interior of the cars are highlighted by sports seats in black ARTICO leather and DINAMICA microfiber, circular air vents, multifunction steering wheel and two large displays with the MBUX multimedia system.

Powerful Engines

The AMG A45 and AMG CLA45 are equipped with 2.0-liter inline-four engines. Both produce 387 hp with 480 Nm of torque.

The same type of engine can be found in the AMG A45 S and AMG CLA45 S. Each cranks up 421 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

The cars use Mercedes’ eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. All the power goes to an all-wheel-drive system.

The AMG A45 can run from 0-100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds and the AMG A45 S does that in 3.9 seconds. The AMG CLA45 goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and the AMG CLA45 S covers that in 4 seconds.

The AMG A45 and CLA45 offer a top speed of 250 km/h. The range-topping trims, the AMG A45 S and AMG CLA45 S, have a max speed of 270 km/h.
