A new version of the Mercedes-AMG GT just surfaced online. Following the successful launching of the Mercedes-AMG GT R, a camouflaged variant of the GT was spotted again.
The spy photos, show the car with a soft top, which suggests that a roadster model of it is in the works. According to reports, it will probably come out next year with a 2018 model year.
Taking clues from the spy shots, Topspeed released a rendering of the car. From the looks of it, the Mercedes-AMG GT certainly looks great without its roof, and it is indeed a worthy rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo.
While there is no official statement from AMG yet regarding the car, the article claimed the vehicle will be called the “Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster.” A leaked document from Mercedes said that the convertible will arrive in showrooms during the first half of 2017.
The GT C Roadster will likely carry all the exterior and interior elements found in the standard GT model. That is, of course, with the exemption of the roof which will come with a soft top.
The engine of the GT will also make its way to the GT C Roadster. Therefore, it will have the same 4.0-liter biturbo V8. It should be noted that the base specification of the engine is capable of producing 456 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.
Expect the GT C to have more than the mentioned figures. However, since its power unit sits below the Mercedes-AMG GT S, it might not get past the 503 hp and 479 lb-ft outputs.
