The Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback is characterized by elements of sportiness and comfort. However, some may find the legroom of four-door car a bit cramped. The new spy shots of the car’s next generation model may come as a good news for customers who want more space in its interior.
According to a source, the next-gen A-Class uses the MFA2 platform instead of the current MFA version. The MFA2 platform provides the car a longer wheelbase, which results to more legroom. Then the new one reduces the weight of the car also, which increases its flexibility.
Another noticeable change in the upcoming A-Class is its wider hatch at the rear. The design of the tail opening eases up the loading of bulky cargo. The styling of the auto’s rear is made more appealing by split tail lights.
The report claimed that the hatchback will carry four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The A-Class range is highlighted by the A40 AMG and the A45 AMG. The probable outputs of the mentioned models are 300 bhp and 400 bhp, respectively. It is speculated too that the next-gen A-Class will likely offer three-cylinder petrol and plug-in hybrid variants.
Look forward to the unveiling of the new A-Class at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017. It will have a 2018 model year. Deliveries of the units are expected to commence in the early part of 2018.
It is worth noting that the article said that the MFA2 platform will also be utilized by the CLA, B-Class and the rumored GLB SUV.
