Mercedes-Benz Presents the Masters of the Ocean

Giancarlo Perlas September 28, 2016

Whether on water or land, ocean masters Sebastian Steudtner and Alex Thomson want nothing but the best—and that comes in the form of the Mercedes-Benz brand. In the 33-second campaign posted in YouTube, the two extreme athletes battled it out on the water. They were also able to combine their skills in “entertaining ways.”

Steudtner is a big wave surfer with German and Austrian citizenship, and is considered to be one of the best and most versatile “water men” in the world. He grew up in Nuremberg, and discovered early his passion for the water. He began his career as a windsurfer in Hawaii.

Thomson, on the other hand, is a British yachtsman, whose sailing career was aided by Sir Keith Mills. He was widely sponsored by Hugo Boss, boasting of a 12-year-long partnership. Thomson and his racing team regularly compete under the Hugo Boss brand.

In the video, Steudtner and Thomson met on the sea and decided to race against each other. Steudtner used an AMG car to bring himself and his gear to the ocean while Thomson raced a Mercedes-Benz yacht with a big “BOSS” scrawled across its side.

In true elegant fashion, there seems to be a competitive spirit that drives the two ocean masters. As they race towards the finish, what was evident is that both of them embodies the values Mercedes-Benz is known for—commitment, competitiveness, dedication and style. As long as Mercedes-Benz continues to supports these superior athletes, we are sure to witness more and more of their mastery and legacy.
