Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² To Make Appearance In US Market

The product planning manager of Mercedes-Benz USA had hinted in April that the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² may be released into the United States. This suggestion was confirmed through an official announcement by the company, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com.
However, the name of the luxury vehicle will be changed due to changes in the specifications of the vehicle from European standards to US standards. The vehicle will be called the Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4². For the moment, the pricing for the upcoming vehicle has yet to be released.
But, an estimate can be made basing on the European market pricing of the G-Class model lineup of the luxury vehicle manufacturer. The AMG G63 is priced at €144,287 while the G500 4×4² is being sold at €230,169. On the other hand, the AMG G65 is priced at €273,938. In the US market, the AMG G63 and AMG G65 are priced at $139,900 and $217,900, respectively. Due to this, the G550 4×4² may be priced right in between these two luxury vehicles once it is available in the US.
The gallery below shows a detuned version of the 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine that is used on the C63. It is capable of producing 416 HP of power as well as a torque of 450 lb-ft. The engine is mated with the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission system.
The three locking differentials, portal axles and ground clearance of at least 17 inches allow the Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² to pass through just about any natural obstacle with ease. Aside from its notable performance, the luxury vehicle manufacturer also provided the G550 4×4² with an impressive interior including its eight-inch infotainment system as well as satellite navigations. The Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² is expected to be released into the US market by the start of 2017.
