Nico Rosberg Wins Formula One Chinese GP
Giancarlo Perlas April 17, 2016Nico Rosberg is on fire! The German once again captured a win in the recently concluded 2016 Formula One Chinese Grand Prix.
In doing so, the German driver extended his lead over the current F1 Drivers’ Champion and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton. The victory also makes him the fourth man in the history of the sport to win six consecutive races. It should be noted that he owned everyone in the last three races of the 2015 season and in the first three races of the present season.
The troubles of Hamilton in China continued. After getting an engine failure in yesterday’s qualifying, which placed him at the back grid of the race at the beginning, he managed to get a quick start until Feliper Nasr of Sauber bumped into him while avoiding the clash of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. The collision resulted in the need for the Briton to go to the pit for a front wing replacement. Eventually, he settled for the seventh position.
Rosberg finished with a time of 1:38:53.891. He was followed by Vettel and Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat in second and third places, respectively.
The win of Rosberg gives him a 36-point lead against Hamilton in the F1 standings. The respective scores of the two are 75 and 39 points. On the other hand, the efforts of both drivers put Mercedes AMG Petronas in the first position of the 2016 Constructor Standings. The team currently has 114 points, which is 53 points ahead of the second-placer, Ferrari.
