Mercedes-Benz USA Posts Record Sales in January 2016
Giancarlo Perlas February 3, 2016Mercedes-Benz USA once again posted record sales for the month of January, starting 2016 with a strong momentum. According to PR Newswire, the Atlanta headquarters of the three-pointed star brand reported sales figures of 24,664 units. The numbers are above the ones recorded during the same month of last year, which amounted to 24,619 units.
Furthermore, MB USA also sold 1,899 units of its vans. Then there were 399 units sold from its smart cars division. Overall, the January sales of Mercedes total to 26,962 vehicles. Compared to the January 2015 overall figures, the sales of the brand is 1.3% higher.
Dietmar Exler, the new President and CEO of MB USA who succeeded Stephen Cannon this month, revealed the January 2016 figures reflect the highest volume sales year in the history of the company. He believes the momentum built up at the start of the year will push onward. He expects the new product offerings of the company like the E-Class to remain as the driving force towards the best experience and innovation of their customers.
Among the best sellers of the brand in January were the C-Class, GLE and CLA models. The range that displayed the highest sales volume was the C-Class with 5,079 units. The GLE followed with 3,515 units. After them was the CLA with 3,168 units, which was 27.2% higher based on a year-on-year comparison.
The Mercedes-AMG models also saw a significant increase in January sales. The performance units of the lineup saw 1,904 units sold, which was 141% up from last year’s 790 figures. Next, the BlueTEC diesel models sold last month numbered to 334 units.
Even the Certified Pre-Owned vehicles of Mercedes did well with 9,934 units sold. The numbers were up by 5.1% from the 9,456 units recorded in the first month of 2015.
