Giancarlo Perlas December 11, 2015In terms of safety, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC scored the top rating in the latest evaluation of the European New Car Assessment Programme or Euro NCAP. The new SUV, which is a revamped version of the Mercedes-Benz GLK, received five stars from the rating system of the organization.
Based on the explanation of Euro NCAP on its scoring, a five-star safety means the vehicle has an overall good performance in crash protection. In addition, it is an indication that it is fitted with robust crash avoidance technology.
As seen in the photo above, the Mercedes GLC got a rating of 95 percent in adult safety. Then. it received 89 percent for child safety. Next, it was given 82 percent for pedestrian safety. Lastly, the SUV scored 71 percent in its safety assistance systems. These high rates allowed it to take five out of five stars.
It should be noted that Euro NCAP used the Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d 4MATIC in the safety tests. Among the advanced safety features praised by the agency in the GLC were the Mercedes-Benz Attention Assist as well as the Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE systems.
According to Daimler, the GLC is another proof that the three-pointed star brand takes the safety of its vehicles’ occupants seriously. The high score is a repeat of the ratings given by Euro NCAP last year to the GLA, C-Class and V-Class.
