Uncrashable Toy Car Ad Highlights BAS Plus System

When you put toy cars in the hands of kids, it normally does not end well for the toy. Parents know this well and they are aware that the life expectancy of toy cars in the hands of kids is rather short. The people at Mercedes-Benz also know this, and they decided to give an uncrashable toy car to some kids, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com.
While this experiment does not encourage raining on the parade of the kids when they play with toy cars, it does give a rather interesting result. The social experiment of the luxury vehicle manufacturer is not a simple test since it is linked to the Brake Assist System Plus or BAS Plus of the company. Mercedes-Benz is offering this feature to its customers, and one way of highlighting this feature is through the experiment.
Super strong magnets were installed by Mercedes-Benz inside the uncrashable toy cars to simulate how the system works.
The Brake Assist System Plus is a radar-based feature designed to prevent crashes in real life. It essentially monitors other vehicles in front and enhances the braking power once the driver hits the brakes. The system uses sensors to check the area in front of the vehicle and identifies potential dangers that may lead to a major traffic accident.
Mercedes-Benz said a pair of radar systems provides information to the Brake Assist System Plus. An 18° beam angle with a range of 200 meters is used by the long-range radar installed under the radiator grille, which allows it cover at least three traffic lanes.
