Lewis Hamilton Wins F1 Russian Grand Prix
Giancarlo Perlas October 11, 2015Lewis Hamilton takes home another win in the conclusion of the Formula One Russian Grand Prix. His recent victory gives him his 42nd career win, which puts him at equal footing with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in terms of overall career wins. On the other hand, Nico Rosberg failed to capitalize on his advantage at the qualifying due to a mechanical failure in his Silver Arrow.
Although Hamilton and Vettel easily sailed through the finish to gain their respective positions on the podium, the real action was in the fight for the third position plus the multiple collisions in the duration of the event.
In the 45th lap of the race, Force India’s Sergio Perez was looking to finish third. But William’s Valtteri Bottas has overtaken him followed by Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen. Along the Turn Four of the last lap though, Raikkonen miscalculated an attempt to get pass Bottas, and he clipped the latter’s car as a result. This gave Perez his much-needed podium win.
Rosberg unfortunately retired from the race after his throttle began acting up during the safety car period following multiple collisions stemming from the out of control car of Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg.
Although Rosberg is not yet out of the title picture, he expressed uncertainty whether he could still catch up with Hamilton in his interview with BBC Sport. He still believes it is possible, but his retirement this race has made it more difficult to do so. However, he still assured everyone that he will keep on engaging the current champ.
