The Colorado Grand is a charity tour event held each year for race and sports cars from 1960 and before. Bob Sutherland organized the first edition of the event in 1989. Every September of each year nearly a hundred vintage cars travel over 100 miles across the Rockies for five days during the event. This year, Mercedes-Benz USA returned as a sponsor, bringing with it a number of classic cars to take part in the event, as shown on a report from gtspirit.com. This will be the 20th time Mercedes-Benz became a sponsor of the event.
This year’s event was held from September 14 up September 19 with Vail, Colorado serving as it starting and end point. The vehicle lineup brought by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer included a Mercedes-Benz C111, AMG GT, G-Wagon, and 300 SL, among others.
Over $4.5 million has been generated by the event for various charities. Among the charities the funds will go to are the Robert Sutherland Foundation, the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation, CASA, and Flight for Life. A number of small-town medical facilities are also included in the list of beneficiaries of the event.
In addition to Mercedes-Benz USA, the other sponsors of the event are Passport Transport, WeatherTech, Hagerty Insurance and RM Auctions. The Colorado Grand 2015 tour passes through a number of town where residents can interact with the participants and owners of the classic cars.
