Giancarlo Perlas July 14, 2015Better, faster and stronger. These are the traits that we can expect from the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA and GLA. According to a report from WorldCarFans, the two classes will receive better luxury and comfort features, plus faster and stronger engines.
After Mercedes-Benz announced the updates in its facelifted A-Class hatchback, the brand also promised that its compact car and compact SUV in the US will get the same treatment. Based on the source, the upgraded Mercedes CLA and GLA will go on sale in the US by October.
The report said the engine options of the two will mirror that of the facelifted A-Class. Notably, the AMG handcrafted 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder power units of the range-topping models will get 376 hp and 475 Nm of torque.
The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed gearbox of the units will receive major enhancements too. A quicker ratio starting from the third to the seventh gear will be implemented. In addition, a new rotary knob to control the driving modes of the vehicles will be installed.
The improvements cut the acceleration times of the CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG models from zero to 60 mph. The sprints of the two up to 60 mph are expected to be at 4.1 seconds and 4.3 seconds, respectively.
Another optional feature that the two will benefit from is the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS kit that will offer “Race” transmission mode, the signature Adaptive Suspension of AMG, performance steering wheel, and it raises the maximum electronically-limited speed of the autos to 167 mph.
Lastly, the CLA and GLA will receive the standard keyless start, climate controls and the updated infotainment system of the three-pointed star marque.
