Lewis Hamilton Can Become a Seven-Time World Champion
Giancarlo Perlas June 11, 2015Lewis Hamilton has the potential to win more world championships in his Formula One career. According to former F1 driver Nigel Mansell in his interview featured in Sky Sports, the Briton could even break the seven world championship wins of Michael Schumacher during his career.
Mansell admitted that he was a big fan of Hamilton. In his assessment, the reigning world title holder is doing an outstanding job. He said that with the help of Mercedes, the 30-year old driver could exceed the record held by Schumacher. The F1 legend added that Mercedes is a powerful force in the sport nowadays, which could really propel Hamilton to greater heights.
However, Mansell noted that the sport has drastically changed from his days. He stated that he is finding it hard to recognize F1 from the point of view of his bygone era.
Mansell criticized the present rules of the sport, particularly the areas governing the DRS, tires, and the outside intervention for the drivers. He called the DRS a false overtaking aid. Then he mentioned that the tires should be bigger like before to allow better grip. Furthermore, he pointed out that too many engineers and aids dictating the driver how to strategize has prevented them from expressing their skills to the fullest. He recalled the days when it was up to the drivers to balance the car themselves.
