The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is the 2015 World Car of the Year
Giancarlo Perlas April 4, 2015The latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class was proclaimed as the “World Car of the Year” this 2015. According to TopSpeed, the announcement came at the New York Auto Show.
The jurors voted the C-Class as the best car this year because of its amazing technological cues borrowed from the S-Class, impressive aluminum/steel hybrid platform, and updated rear-wheel drive powertrains. All these deliver high levels of refinement, luxury, safety, ride and handling to buyers said the judges.
The prestigious award was participated by 75 car journalists belonging from 22 countries worldwide. The event is already in its 11th year.
The source stated that the Mercedes-Benz C-Class stood over the 24 other vehicles in the category. The 24 was then cut down to the top 12. Eventually, the final leg of the judging was just a fight among the Ford Mustang, Volkswagen Passat and the C-Class. Of course, the excellent features of the C-Class against its rivals allowed it to bag the much-coveted award.
Two other cars with the three-pointed star marque also garnered awards in two other categories. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe was given recognition as the “World Luxury Car” of the year. On the other hand, the Mercedes-AMG GT got the distinction of being the “World Performance Car” in 2015.
It should be noted that Mercedes-Benz even came close to winning two other awards. The Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid was a runner-up in the “World Green Car” of the year award. Then, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class nearly got a second trophy as the “World Car Design of the Year.”
Hats off to Mercedes-Benz once more for not only its great performance in the market, but to its capability to impress and satisfy its consumer base as well.
