Check Out the Mercedes Pickup Truck Based on the S-Class
Giancarlo Perlas April 15, 2015When the official announcement came about the plans for the development of the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck, fans quickly poured their support for the incoming project of the three-pointed star brand. The region where the loudest welcome came from was North America, despite the place not originally intended as the target market of the upcoming vehicle.
Since the plans were just revealed not so long ago, it should be at least two years until everyone sees the new Mercedes pickup truck. However, those who just can’t wait for the new auto should check out the work of German Motorcars in Florida.
According to Carscoops, which is the source of the photos, the specialists of the company already have their own version of the Mercedes pickup truck. However, the auto was based on the platform of a classic Mercedes S-Class model, the W126 420 SEL.
Basically, the mechanics of German Motorcars ripped the whole rear passenger area of the classic Benz. The rear roof and doors were also entirely stripped from the car. Then, they transformed it into a pickup, as seen in the photos here, by incorporating a truck bed in the Mercedes’ rear section.
Inside the hood of the car turned into a Mercedes pickup, the power is provided by a 4.2-liter V8 engine. Its total output is rated at around 230 hp, which is distributed to the rear wheels. As for the cabin of the auto, the old dashboard, seats, steering wheel, and the upholstery were retained.
Citing Atlanta’s Streetside Classics, the seller of the customized Mercedes pickup, the price of the product is at $18,995. It’s engine mileage is around 35,000 miles.
