Rumored, and expected, Mercedes’ 2015 S-Class Coupe has been caught by photographers out testing. As you can see, it’s a huge car that will be, for its future owners, an ostentatious display of wealth like the Bentley Continental and Rolls-Royce Wraith that it aims to displace. To succeed in such a function, expect this upcoming S-Class coupe to have entire cows donating their hides to the interior, with high-end wood finishes to add to the veneer of luxury and exclusivity that this vehicle brings.
Based on the new S-Class platform, the coupe will make extensive use of aluminum structures, portions of which will be recycled and recyclable. We can expect Mercedes’ twin turbo V8 to be the standard powerplant in the S-Class coupe, although some rumors suggest the possibility of a diesel six as an entry-level option. Of course, the mighty biturbo V12 will be right at home in a car like this, so expect this long-lived mechanical jewel to be available. It would also not be unexpected for AMG variants to follow some time after the launch of the standard S-Class Coupe.
