Mercedes-Benz to Reveal New Technology at Paris Motor Show
Giancarlo Perlas October 1, 2014Daimler, specifically its Mercedes-Benz brand, has a lot of things under its plate right now. Just last month, it unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GT, Mercedes-AMG GT S, facelifted Mercedes-Benz B-Class, and Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025, among others.
According to various sources, the brand showed no plans of slowing down this month. It is planning to premiere new products in the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show such as the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Mercedes-Benz V250 BlueTEC 4Matic, and the Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1. In addition to the mentioned products, the three-pointed star brand is also showcasing a new technology for its cars called the Stop&Go Pilot based on a report from Bloomberg.
Bloomberg revealed the Stop&Go Pilot would be an optional add-on for models like the C-Class sedan. The system would allow the car to steer itself automatically while matching the speed of the vehicle in front of it. The feature would put the car on a full stop too if there are obstacles along the way. It should be noted as well that Audi is planning to introduce a similar technology later.
It seems like automakers are now more focused on integrating the early stages of auto-pilot features in their vehicles, something that was only a subject of sci-fi flicks in the past decades. While there have been countless attempts to achieve this kind of feat in the past, almost all the developed prototypes were not ideal for actual traffic use. However, it is only now that vehicles with auto-pilot features, which are suitable for actual traffic conditions are coming to fruition. It won’t be long until they would be allowed to roam public roads.
