Lewis Hamilton Solidifies Position in F1 With a Win in the Russian Grand Prix
Giancarlo Perlas October 12, 2014Lewis Hamilton hangs on to the first position in the Formula One drivers’ rankings and Mercedes AMG Petronas solidifies its grip on the Constructor’s Championship following a victory in the Russian Grand Prix. On the other hand, Nico Rosberg fell just behind his teammate, finishing in the second place.
Hamilton’s victory was assured once Rosberg made a grave mistake on the turn one of lap 1. The German was quick to apologize for his error but Hamilton already capitalized on the mistake. Despite the disappointment, the German said he was grateful for having an unbelievable car, which allowed him to finish second. Now, that’s what’s sportsmanship is all about.
Valtteri Bottas of Williams, whose car also possesses a Mercedes engine, fell in the third place. It should be noted that if the Finnish driver consistently finishes on the top 3 in the remaining races, there is a big chance that he would move up in the third place of the drivers’ rankings in F1.
The latest grand prix is the first ever to be held in Russia. A notable guest in the event was none other than the president of the country, Vladimir Putin. Of course, the President was flanked by around six girls in his VIP seat. Beside him was Bernie Ecclestone, who seemed to be enjoying the company of the Russian President. President Putin was the one who awarded the trophy to Hamilton, as seen in the photo above.
