2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series Gets “Red Carpet Malfunction”

The red carpet is only reserved for VIP’s and A-listers during film fests. The 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series, being one of the best that the three-pointed star brand has to offer, joins the stars of Hollywood in the recent Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Whenever there is a film fest, weird choice of outfits and wardrobe malfunctions are no longer new to us. However, the 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series had its share of red carpet issue during the prestigious event’s opening night over the weekend.

The Solarbeam Yellow $275,000-worth 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series had the plastic covering of its platform’s carpet stuck in its wheels. According to USA Today, before the car was placed on its two-foot-high stand, someone forgot to remove the plastic covering from the carpet. As a result, the plastic got stuck on the rubber tires of the car.

With the gala only a few moments away when the mistake was discovered, tension was in the air as everyone sought a solution. So, as a quick remedy, the organizers performed a little “plastic surgery” on the tires of the car. Cutting instruments were brought out to remove as much plastic as possible from it.

Eventually, the problem was sorted out leaving only tiny bits of plastic in the tires which were no longer noticeable at a quick glance. Somehow, none of the A-listers who paraded in the red carpet noticed the tiny remnants of plastic stuck in the rubber of the 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series.

In fact, stars like Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper went on to pose beside the car for photos. Hanks even jokingly asked if he can bring the car home after the event.

Unluckily, they don’t just hand out the keys of a 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series as a giveaway even in an international film fest.
