Mercedes Celebrates A Quarter Century Of DTM Racing
Emmanuel P July 10, 2013The weekend of July 13 and 14th will see Race 5 of the DTM Series being undertaken at the Norisring in Nuremberg, Germany. In the past 25 years, Mercedes-Benz has raced cars in the DTM, having sent its cars into battle beginning in 1988. Since then, cars bearing the 3-pointed star have won 169 races, ten driver’s championships and thirteen team titles. More importantly, it has garnered 9 constructors championships in the same period, making Mercedes-Benz the most successful manufacturer in the history of the DTM.
To celebrate this occasion, Mercedes-Benz will be staging a parade through the streets of Nuremberg that will feature various cars it has entered in the series over the years, driven by members of its past and present racing squad. The rolling display will start at 4:05pm on Saturday, with a repeat showing of this historical spectacle at 11:50am on Sunday. In addition, Mercedes-Benz has invited 100 fans (and a companion each) to join them at the paddock hospitality suite on the Friday night preceding the race weekend. The lucky pairs who have been selected will get to meet Mercedes-Benz DTM drivers in a personal and informal setting, far away from the tension-filled activities of the paddock on race day.
