Dr. Bernhard Upbeat After First 90 Days as Commercial Vehicles Head
Ryan Joseph Ramos July 3, 2013Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, the Daimler Board of Management member who is in charge of the commercial vehicles division, was positive when he assessed his first 90 days on the job. This was the sentiment at a press event held at the Worth plant of Mercedes-Benz.
The past three months have been marked by some excellent initiatives that saw Daimler Trucks maneuver into a position where it’s poised for global leadership. The product range has been fully realized, and there’s still a bright future ahead for the Trucks division.
According to the commercial vehicles chief, current programs will be continued systematically, and this should sustain the moment of the division going forward. The focus for the future initiatives of the brand will be on growth, efficiency, as well as leadership in terms of the technological field.
Dr. Bernhard also talked about the ‘steep learning curve’ that he had to hurdle in the first 90 days, and cited the passion and dedication of the company’s employees across the globe as something that helped him through.
Considering the very unstable conditions in the global markets within the first half of 2013, Daimler Trucks managed to weather the storm well enough. Sales figures through May this year are down only 3 percent compared to the same period last year, and many markets are still growing or being explored.
