Tesla Model S EV Outsprints The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG
Peter Parcon January 28, 2013It is rare to see the Tesla Model S EV in the United States although around 3,000 units were sold in 2012. This indicates that only a small number of videos of the car are available online, but it is gradually increasing. As a result, when a new video showing the performance of the Tesla Model S EV makes its way into the net, it is something that a car enthusiast would like to watch.
One recent video was uploaded by DragTimes and it showed the Tesla Model S EV going up against the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, which features a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine. The E63 output reaches 518HP although it does not have a performance pack.
As the two cars burn rubber, the instant toque delivery of the Tesla and the absence of gear-shifting sees the Model S beating the Mercedes to the punch despite have a smaller power output at 416HP, where only 386HP reach the wheels.
After some time, the Mercedes starts to catch up to the Tesla. However, in the reality, with all the stoplights, corners, and traffic, the Tesla will have the Mercedes eating its dust. Nonetheless, the 1 to 1100 mph or 1 to 176 km/h race saw a rather even matchup between to two cars.
