smart times 2012: World Record for Longest smart Parade in Antwerp
Ryan Joseph Ramos August 28, 2012Antwerp, Belgium was the meeting place for 1,594 smart vehicle enthusiasts from 27 countries that participated in the smart times 2012. This was easily the largest gathering of the community that supports smart, and they also helped set the world record for the longest smart parade when they drove 1,114 smart vehicles through the streets of Antwerp.
You might be thinking, so many cars—even if they’re smart cars—should produce a considerable amount of carbon dioxide. Don’t worry, because this will be compensated for by a reforestation effort from smart, together with the nonprofit WeForest. A total of 5,200 trees will be planted in Kenya.
The smart times, which started back in 2000 as a venue for the sharing of passions and interests among smart enthusiasts and has since been getting an increasing number of attendees each year, is going to be held in Lucerne from August 23-25 next year.
