London’s black cabs will soon be history

One of London’s most famous symbols will be gone in the near future, as the city is poised to cut down emissions in its city and clean up the air. A deal was signed between EcoCity and Mercedes-Benz today, to provide an eco-friendly vehicle to the 25,000 cab drivers in London. The new vehicle is equipped with the newest carbon reduction technology, so that if enough of them are put onto London’s streets, emissions will be cut significantly. The low emissions six seat taxi is based on the Mercedes Vito Traveliner.
Peter Da Costa, the chief executive of EcoCity’s noted: “Cab drivers and passengers in London will now have a choice of vehicle, and we as a company will continue to look after the driver’s needs.”
