When Mercedes-Benz introduced its SLR McLaren 722, there was a bit of confusion about the special-edition’s name. Many believed the car would offer a fire-breathing, 722 hp supercharged V8, but it doesn’t (it makes 650 hp). Some believed that “722″ meant there would be 722 of the cars made … but that was wrong, too. In the end, the 722 badge actually referred to 7:22AM - the starting time of Sterling Moss’ epic 1955 Mille Miglia run in a then-new Mercedes SLR.

The guys at RENNtech were not impressed by the naming convention, nor by the 650hp that the SLR was producing. In April of last year, they introduced a sport package kit along with a custom tuning chip that would bring the SLR 722 to 722hp. A year later, they are introducing another package, but this time, they have taken the performance to a whole new level - a 740hp level.

Press Release:

SO, 722 = 7:22AM, not 722 hp.

While the automotive enthusiasts of the world uttered a collective (and skeptical) “um … OK”, Hartmut Feyhl took one look and announced: “this car should have 722 hp”. When most enthusiasts say things like that, they can be easily ignored - but when Feyhl says something like this - it happens.

Hartmut is the owner and chief engineer of RENNTECH, the South Florida-based tuning firm best known for producing incredibly powerful Mercedes-Benz automobiles that often redefine what highly-tuned exotic cars should and should not be capable of.

Last year, RENNTECH introduced their own “722″ option: RENNTECH SLR Performance PKG1. RENNTECH’s PKG1 upgrades included upgraded intercoolers, a larger crankshaft pulley, and custom ECU software that delivered the full 722 hp SLR customers expected (along with more than 700 lb-ft of torque!). RENNTECH announced the package in an April ‘07 press release titled “Here in Florida, 722 Means What You Think it Means”, and SLR customers responded by sending their cars to Feyhl’s Florida garage from across the Western hemisphere …

… of course, after driving their new 722 hp rocketship for a few months, some of Feyhl’s customers started asking for more, which brings us to RENNTECH’s latest batch of SLR tuning options: SLR Performance PKG2 and new RENNTECH Signature 10-spoke, 3 pc. performance wheels.

Available for both the “standard” SLR and 722 models, PKG2 builds on RENNTECH’s previous upgrades by adding a less restrictive, motorsports-style exhaust system and re-mapped ECU software to boost the already powerful SLR engine to over 740 hp at 6400 rpm.

To give the SLR more visual impact, RENNTECH now offers its Signature 10 spoke wheels in SLR offsets and 3 finishes (chrome, satin-ceramic, and sniper gray). Pricing for RENNTECH’s SLR performance upgrades are set at 12990US for PKG1 and 26990US for PKG2. RENNTECH 20″ wheels are 1950US (ea.). Big Brake upgrades also available - contact RENNTECH for more.

Impressive spec sheet notwithstanding, some customers will still believe that 500 hp is not enough, and for those select few who find the CLK a bit tame, there is always RENNTECH.

Press Release

Established in 1989 by Hartmut Feyhl (ex technical director: AMG North
America), RENNTECH quickly made a name for itself with high-powered magazine
tuner-shootout cars that were reliable enough to actually be driven from
RENNTECH’s home in South Florida thousands of miles to events in Texas and
Michigan. For the CLK Black, Feyhl told his crew to develop the same kind of
“real-world” performance upgrades that made his cars so famous to begin with.

“Real-world performance is all about torque, not so much about a peak
horsepower number at very high rpm,” explains Feyhl. “It can be very easy to
build high rpm horsepower, but to get instant throttle response and mid-range
acceleration it is more difficult, and this is where customers really want to
feel that improvement.” To build that improvement, RENNTECH adds long-tube
headers and a motorsports style exhaust to the already-potent 6.2 liter engine,
tying it all together with RENNTECH’s own ECU software, sharpening throttle
response and boosting 550 peak hp. The real story, however, is drivability -
and this is where the RENNTECH tuning package shines, delivering an additional
45-60 lb-ft of torque between 2400 and 5000 rpm.

To “sharpen” the car even further, RENNTECH fine-tuned the CLK63 Black Series’
suspension, lowering the car 3/4″ and adding carbon-fiber strut braces front
and rear. To enhance mechanical grip in fast corners, RENNTECH also added
fully-adjustable camber bushings at all four corners. Aerodynamic stability is
also greatly enhanced with an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing element and a
front splitter/rear diffuser combination to manage underbody airflow, building
usable downforce and (adjustable) aerodynamic balance at speed, while directing
cooling air to the Black Series’ huge AMG brake rotors - themselves enhanced
with high-performance pads and stainless-steel braided lines. The result is a
hard-core CLK63 from RENNTECH that does the unthinkable: it makes the standard
CLK63 seem a bit soft.

The present Mercedes-Benz CL class was launched in 2006 and the stylish and curvy two-door coupe has been a strong performer since then. The coupe is known for its safety, performance, boot space and power, and what else could one ask for?

There are a few though who adore Lamborghini or Mclaren or even the Koennigsegg. Not for their power, performance or looks, but for the wing doors! They didn’t have the cash to buy one and settled for the CL, but now, with a fraction of that amount, the CL could be fitted with desirable wing doors to give the CL one more equipment common to those Supercars. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

LSD doors from Germany is our savior. Get your CL to their nearby dealer and the wing doors would be installed in a jiffy. There is no need for any modification or special hinges as the wing doors are designed to fit in the stock mounting slots. And thats not it. The cool wing doors have passed the side-crash test and have the German TUV parts certificate, meaning they welcome you into the same safe car as it was previously.

The doors also will now open and close more precisely saving all headaches and forceful attempts during winter months. German engineering enables you to open the door in a outward motion with an aperture angle of approx. 30°; and simultaneously allows you to swing the wing door upward. Brilliant!

What we are uncertain about is whether your CL after undergoing this minor implant surgery, would be the same in terms of power to weight ratio. One more area of concern is how much the aerodynamics will be influenced. But for those who are little bothered about those issues are in for a radical and cool addition

The all-new 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class can now be treated the Carlsson way. The new tuning kit from the Mercedes tuner promises neat transformation in the visual and energy departments. The SL 500 after all that, will evolve into the Carlsson CK50, after losing the 3 pointed star on its grille.

The stock 5.5 liter C8 is fiddled to produce 435-hp and a peak torque of 443 lb-ft. That allows the Carlsson CK50 to gallop from zero to 62mph in a mere 5.1 seconds with a top whack of 182mph. As for the SL 65 AMG, or CK65 as Carlsson likes to refer to it, 700+hp and 811 lb-ft of torque is what you will end up with. Thats more than any Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini.

All this power has to be put neatly on the road without any twitching or inconvenience. In order to achieve that, an electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering gear for the SL, which gets the car to sit approximately 30 mm lower to the ground, is offered by the tuner so that body roll is kept at bay and it handles like a Smart Fortwo.

A length-adjustable front spoiler lip, grille inserts made of electropolished stainless steel for the air inlets, gill vents with carbon supports, a new rear apron and a new rear spoiler are in the appearance list to attract second glances. Quite a stunning package.

    * Intelligent electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering gear
* Light forged metal wheels from the 1/16 Ultra Light series

For the newly-arrived, comprehensively reworked Mercedes SL, Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH in Merzig can already offer an individualisation programme – transforming the SL 500 into the Carlsson CK50.

Coming on strong: the Carlsson CK50 engine kit

Specially developed by Carlsson for the current 5.5 Litre V8, the CK50 engine kit, which includes the adaptation of the electronic control unit, allows the elegant roadster to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. Following their boost by Carlsson, the output and torque data are quite impressive: 435 HP/ 320 kW (standard model: 388 HP/ 285 kW) at 6000 rpm. The torque of the tuned V8 is 600 Nm/ 2800-4800 rpm (electronically regulated), the top speed is 293 km/h thanks to the Vmax delimiter, with acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. In short, the CK50 engine kit has more than enough output and torque for any situation! Support for its output comes in the form of the CK50 kit’s exhaust gas system, which has been individually adapted to optimise the flow of exhaust gases. The exhaust gas back pressure is reduced with the help of sports middle and rear exhaust silencers made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and developed by Carlsson’s own engineers. Four polished exhaust tailpipes bear witness to the additional performance of this SL.

Naturally, Carlsson can also provide the appropriate performance enhancements for versions of the SL with other engines in them – extending right up to the CK65, which has over 700 HP and a torque of 1100 Nm. In all these performance enhancements, the Carlsson engineers are constantly on the lookout to ensure that the tolerance limits of the engine components are not exceeded, so as to avoid any damage. Equally, all engines that have been tuned by Carlsson still comply with all the regulations concerning exhaust fumes.

Aerodynamics, Carlsson style: first-rate appearance meets sporty presentation

Good aerodynamics in a car will have a positive effect on its driving and safety. Discreet but highly-efficient Carlsson components round off the appearance of this SL, cleverly adding a sporting touch. For vehicles with an AMG styling package, Carlsson is offering a length-adjustable front spoiler lip, made of PUR in original equipment manufacturer quality or of carbon, which is used as a material in motor sports. Further visual highlights are provided by the grille inserts made of electropolished stainless steel for the air inlets, and by the air outlet gill vents with carbon supports. Also for vehicles with AMG styling, Carlsson builds into the rear apron a diffusor insert made of PUR, with an air conduction system made of carbon. For the standard rear apron with AMG styling, Carlsson offers grille inserts made of electropolished stainless steel. A spoiler at the rear creates greater downward impetus, thus ensuring greater stability at high speeds.

The electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering gear

Carlsson also provides electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering gear for the SL, which lowers the vehicle approximately 30 mm further – thus giving the roadster a visibly sportier appearance and ensuring a lower centre of gravity.

This C-Tronic® SUSPENSION reacts intelligently to the actual road conditions. On a poor stretch of road, or in the event of persistently heavy compression, the height of the vehicle is automatically readjusted to ensure that the necessary reserve of spring travel required for preserving driving comfort is maintained. Even at speeds in excess of 120 km/h, the suspension travel remains sufficient at all times because the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION respects the maximum depth permissible for the standard model – in other words, the minimum vehicle level.

Reduced body roll and a much greater agility in handling lead in turn to a significant increase in driving pleasure. At the same time, with less air flowing beneath the vehicle, there is a reduction in aerodynamic drag and lift.

The 1/16 Ultra Light high tech forged wheel

The surface of the 1/16 Ultra Light multi-spoke wheel is polished to a high-gloss finish and coated with highly-transparent protective lacquer. The sides of the spokes are brush-finished and create an elegant contrast to the surface.

Multi-spoke designs are ideal for the optimisation of weight. The even distribution of the spokes means that forces acting upon the wheel are directed into the wheel spider as efficiently as possible. Thus an oversized thickness is avoided and the ideal wheel weight achieved. Stat-of-the-art forging technology ensures a saving in weight of approximately 38% as opposed to cast wheels of comparable wheel load and dimensions. Due to the denseness of the metal, discharged forces are transmitted onward more evenly than in a cast wheel. The unsprung masses at the wheel suspensions are kept as low as possible, and as a result the wheels tramp less. This is why Carlsson’s forged wheels guarantee a noticeable improvement in driving comfort over conventional light metal wheels, and this can be felt particularly clearly on an uneven road surface.

Carlsson’s forged Carlsson 1/16 Ultra Light wheel is available for the SL in the following sizes: 8.5 x 19”, 8.5 x 20” and 9.5 x 20” (VA+HA) and 10 x 19” and 11 x 20” (HA only). A typical 20“ combination would consist of 9.5 x 20“ at the front and 11 x 20” at the rear, with 255/30 and 305/25 tyres respectively.
A chic interior ambience

Available in the colour of your choice, elegant car mats made of soft velour add considerably to the appeal of the cockpit of the SL. The extension of the speedometer to go up to 360 km/h demonstrates that there is far greater potential slumbering under the bonnet than you’ll find in the regular model. Naturally, Carlsson can modify the vehicle’s interior to suit individual wishes. And with fine leather fittings, multimedia components and much more available, there are barely any limits to the remodeling possibilities. This elite car manufacturer breathes life into dream cars for customers from all over the world.

The Mercedes CLS is one of those cars that needs no aftermarket parts or accessories to achieve top performance and a great look, but the Japanese tuner, Elite Sports, thought otherwise. While we have seen worst transformations, this one isn’t as bad. The side intakes and all that fiberglass does remind one of a ricer, but we still think it was a good try from the Elite Sports guys, who are probably used to working with Hondas and Acuras.

Press Release

World Debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2008

BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW
The Four-Door V12 Biturbo Stealth Super Sports Car
With 730 hp (720 hp SAE net), 1,320 Nm (974 lb-ft), 0 – 300 km/h (186 mph) in 24.5 seconds and a Top Speed of More than 360 km/h (225 mph)

Ultra powerful, ultra fast and conspicuously inconspicuous: The four-door stealth super sports car BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW offers performance superlatives like no other car on the market: The basis for the car is the body of the new C-Class sedan, covered with a special matte-black coating. The BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder engine was dropped into the engine bay with almost surgical precision. Performance is staggering: 3.9 seconds from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph), 24.5 seconds for 0 – 300 km/h (186 mph) and a top speed of more than 360 km/h (225 mph). BRABUS produces the BULLIT BLACK ARROW in small-series production starting at 348,000 Euros MSRP.

The BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW ensures that the world’s fastest sedans continue to come from Bottrop. The BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW follows in the footsteps of the 330-km/h (206 mph) BRABUS E V12 based on the W 210-series Mercedes E-Class, the 350.2-km/h (219 mph) E V12 Biturbo of the new W 211 generation and the world’s current fastest sedan, the 365.7- km/h (227.2 mph) BRABUS ROCKET based on the Mercedes CLS.

Numerous modifications to the reinforced body were necessary to install the turbocharged V12 engine in the C-Class engine bay. The BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine is derived directly from the BRABUS ROCKET and uses the latest Mercedes S 600 engine that has been completely reworked in the company-own engine building shop.

Nothing beats displacement except even more displacement: A crankshaft with longer stroke, larger cylinder bore, and special pistons and piston rods increase displacement of the twelve-cylinder three-valve engine from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 385 cu. in.).

Cylinder heads optimized for faster gas exchange and high-performance camshafts also contribute to the increase in power output. They are assisted by a more efficient dual turbocharging system, special manifolds, larger turbochargers and larger intercoolers. Because of space constraints in the C-Class body an entirely new stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with low back-pressure metal catalysts had to be developed.

The BRABUS motor engineers used state-of-the-art engine test benches to program new mapping for engine electronics and on-board diagnostics. The new mapping ensures optimal power yield while meeting strict EURO IV emission limits.

The BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo displacement engine, lubricated like all BRABUS high-performance engines with ARAL Synthetic motor oil, produces 730 hp (720 hp SAE net) / 537 kW at just 5,100 rpm. The peak torque of 1,320 Nm (974 lb-ft) is limited in-car electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a BRABUS limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent. Customers can choose from two final drive ratios. The BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW features all modern driving dynamics systems such as ABS, ASR and ESP.

The matte-black stealth street rocket delivers unique performance: Just 3.9 seconds pass for the sprint from 0 - 100 km/h (62 mph), 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after just 10.49 seconds. And after just 24.5 seconds the car shatters the 300-km/h barrier (186 mph). Top speed is more than 360 km/h (225 mph).

At these speeds favorable aerodynamic properties are absolutely essential. The BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW was honed to perfection in the wind tunnel. The BULLIT front apron features large air ducts to supply cooling air for radiators and front brakes. Its sophisticated design further reduces lift on the front axle. Its aerodynamic counterparts in the rear are a three-piece rear spoiler and a rear apron with integrated diffuser. Both front and rear aprons are made from especially light yet highly robust autoclave-baked carbon fiber.

A wider track optimizes directional stability so elementary at speeds beyond 300 km/h. The BRABUS designers have styled aluminum wheel arch flares for front and rear axle. They are seamlessly melded to the production body and add six centimeters (2.4 inches) to the C-Class width. BRABUS rocker panels optimize the airstream along the sides. They also feature integrated entry lights that make entering and exiting the vehicle safer in the dark.

The visual appearance of the BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW is further characterized by the new aluminum hood. Its integrated ‘gills’ are not just distinctive features, they also ensure the engine’s thermal health.

The wheel arch flares provide space for especially wide matte-black BRABUS Monoblock S light-alloy wheels with high-performance tires from technology partners YOKOHAMA or Pirelli. The 9.5Jx19 wheels on the front axle are shod with size 265/30 ZR 19 tires. The rear axle is fitted with size 10Jx19 wheels and size 285/30 ZR 19 tires.

The height-adjustable coil-over suspension was developed specifically for the BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW. The gas-pressure shocks feature ten selectable settings each for bound and rebound. They provide a sporty yet comfortable ride and safe handling in any situation. Sport stabilizers reduces body roll to a minimum during fast cornering.

The BRABUS high-performance brake system can handle even the most extreme stress. It features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle that grip vented and grooved 380 x 37 millimeter (15 x 1.46 inches) brake discs. The rear axle stops with 360 x 28 millimeter (14.2 x 1.1 inches) discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers.

Exclusive individuality also abounds in the interior of the BRABUS automobile: The standard equipment package includes a fully leather interior hand-crafted in the company-own upholstery shop from the finest Mastik and Nubuk leathers.

The custom BULLIT seats offer a perfect combination of comfort and lateral support. Their carbon-fiber rear covers lend the interior an especially sporty feel. This look is complemented by carbon-fiber components on dashboard, center console and door panels as well as by the ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel and aluminum pedals and shifter.

The last few years have seen a flood of 500 horsepower sedans almost pouring out of Germany from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. Earlier this month, however, representatives from Mercedes and AMG announced that the “horsepower wars” were over, saying that outright power would no longer be the “main focus” for future sports sedans.

Apparently, no-one sent that “war over” memo to RENNTECH.

This morning, RENNTECH announced a new “stage 3″ tune for the 2008 65 series AMG models, which makes use of what RENNTECH calls “next-generation ECU software” to get 695 hp and 890 lb-ft of torque from the AMG’s twin-turbo V12.

“Power will always be important to many customers, especially torque.” explains Hartmut Feyhl, RENNTECH’s president and ex technical director of AMG North America. “Our cars have always been able to make considerable torque, and have been praised in magazines for their drivability. Still, we are constantly trying to improve our product.”

Commitment to constant improvement is one reason RENNTECH has become known as one of the world’s premier tuning firms, and America’s foremost authority on Mercedes-Benz. RENNTECH believes their new software will further cement that knowledge in the public mind. “We now have two in-house engineers that are doing software full-time, and others that work with the software on a part-time or contract basis. We are always looking for improvements. The latest software takes advantage of the increased power of the new engine computers, and offers a number of small improvements that add up to a big ‘overall’ improvement,” Feyhl explains. “It really is that ‘next-generation’ sort of product that is much more advanced than what we were capable of offering before. Compared to earlier versions, our new software gives customers more power and better drivability in a way that is more reliable, smoother power curve, and even improves emissions and gas mileage.”

In addition to the software upgrades, RENNTECH adds a larger intercooler pump and secondary heat exchanger, as well as a pair of carbon fiber airboxes to improve the flow of cool air into the big AMG’s V12. The intercooler system upgrades reduce air intake temperatures by more than 20 degrees, delivering more consistent power compared to stock and allowing RENNTECH to more safely increase boost throughout the rpm range.

RENNTECH’s stainless steel sport mufflers (also part of the new package) produce a deep, distinctive growl that is suitably aggressive for a high-end luxury car. Feyhl suggests that his mufflers “let the car sound the way it is supposed to sound.”

With almost 900 lb-ft of torque available from the engine, RENNTECH’s upgrades deliver a real, noticeable improvement in terms power and acceleration compared to the already impressive performance of the stock 65 series AMG cars. MSRP for RENNTECH’s new performance “PKG3″ for 65 series AMG is $18,990 (plus installation). PKG365 is available for S65, CL65, and SL65 AMG. Contact RENNTECH for more.

As of Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT will be made available to the North American market exclusively through RENNtech, the Florida-based MB tuning house owned and operated by super-tuner Hartmut Feyhl, who also lists “technical director, AMG North America” on his resume. “It’s been a very exciting project to be involved in,” explains Feyhl.

Similar in concept to Ferrari’s Enzo FXX program, the 722 GT is built specifically for track use by renowned British motorsports specialists at the RML Group to be the fastest possible on a track. The SLR 722 GT offers impressive power and cornering and delivers exactly the kind of motorsports experience one would expect from a competition car - and, with only 21 examples of the hyper-exclusive track cars being offered for sale, driving one is sure be a special occasion.

RENNtech will be organizing several on-track events (to be announced) throughout the US, beginning in 2008.

The SLR 722 GT trackcars will be set-up and maintained by RENNtech, which will have specially trained technicians and engineers on hand at each of the planned on-track events, which will follow a format similar to the SLR.Club SAFETY & SPEED ACADEMY track weekends in Europe. Participating customers will receive a mix of on and off-track instruction by trained instructors and professional drivers (including Jochen Mass, David Coulthard, and others), as well as some track time in RENNtech’s Aixro SLR.Karts - to get a good feel for each track before going out in their SLRs.

Feyhl explained that the concept is to deliver to SLR McLaren customers a true and authentic motorsports experience in a competitive and reasonably safe environment.

If it is RENNtech and Mercedes’ goal to deliver “an authentic experience”, the SLR McLaren 722 GT is a great place to start - compared to the road-going SLR, the 722 GT gets the full FIA GT treatment from RML: more than 400 redesigned components, FIA spec. safety equipment, fully adjustable suspension, full-on competition brake hardware, a no-nonsense interior, and a track-only exhaust system that bumps the 722 GT’s output to well over 670 hp. The real game-changers, however, are the 722 GT’s towering rear wing and drastically reduced weight. At 1390 kg, the 722 GT weighs some six-hundred pounds less (!) than the stock 722, and the rear wing (in conjunction with the car’s front splitter) provide more than enough aerodynamic downforce to tackle the fastest turns with confidence.

The 722 GT also benefits from years of wind-tunnel and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) experience at RML and McLaren, making the wings and body mods much more than an aesthetic package. Everything on the car, every vent and louvre, is fully functional - a terrific enhancement to on-track performance.

With more power, less weight, and dramatically improved handling, the limited-edition Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT, one thing is certain: if you love cars, love racing, and have the money (but not the time) to campaign a full-on race series, the 722 GT is your ticket.

RENNtech has developed a new line of aftermarket performance products aimed at getting more power out of the 63 series AMG Mercedes-Benz.

RENNtech, generally regarded as the nation’s foremost authority on Mercedes-Benz performance tuning, took something of an “old school” approach towards building its new high-tech products. “The new AMG motor isn’t like the last generation of turbo or kompressor cars,” explains Hartmut Feyhl, president of RENNtech and former technical director of AMG North America. “This new engine is naturally aspirated, like a more traditional race motor, and the way to get more power out of an engine like the 63 is to improve the engine’s breathing.”

To that end, Feyhl and his crew at RENNtech have built new exhaust headers and high-flow sport mufflers, from 304 TiG welded stainless-steel, and developed new engine control software to further boost the engine’s efficiency - and, while “bigger pipes” might seem like a no-brainer, in this case, bigger wasn’t better.

“Some people make a big deal about larger diameter this or that, but that’s not always the answer,” explains Feyhl. “Our headers use slightly smaller diameter tubes, actually increase the speed of the airflow out of the engine. It is important that the tubing is small enough to ’scavenge’ air at lower RPM, generating more torque, while still being large enough to provide improved airflow at higher RPM.”

RENNtech’s results and expertise speak for themselves, delivering 48 additional horsepower and 50 lb-ft. of torque, with a deep, growling exhaust note that is totally free of unwanted resonances at cruising speeds. RENNtech’s headers, sport mufflers, and ECU upgrades are available independently or as “package 2″ through RENNtech’s network of authorized dealers. Available for E, CLS, and S class 63 series AMG.

MSRP 11,450 USD

Mercedes-Benz tuning specialists Carlsson have joined forces with international leather-lifestyle brand Etienne Aigner to develop the Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge”. Made in an exclusive small series, the luxury coupé based on the Mercedes-Benz CL produces over 700 bhp and 1,100 Nm after being breathed on by Carlsson.

Technical masterpiece

The engine conversion by Carlsson includes a special electronic control unit with special maps for injection and ignition. On the intake side, sports air filters ensure optimum aspiration. On the outlet side, a stainless-steel sports exhaust system with high-performance metal catalytic converters and sports silencers cut back-pressure to a minimum. Another measure to boost engine performance is improved intercooling, which reduces charge-air temperature. Thus, the V12 is always raring to go and the driver can rely on having more than adequate power on hand regardless of the situation.

Elegant and with an unsurpassed finish, the Carlsson Aigner CK65 is undoubtedly the most exciting way to travel today. For example, the Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge” is not only very fast – its top speed is electronically regulated for safety reasons to 320 km/h – but also leaves almost every sports car of the world standing with a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds.

Named after one of the most famous race-track curves

With the Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge”, Carlsson has also created a link to the world of motor racing. The car is named after one of the most famous race-track curves, the Eau Rouge in Spa Francorchamps.

An interior with the leather fragrance of Etienne Aigner
Etienne Aigner has agreed to provide the interior appointments for the Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge”. A combination of the renowned Aigner leather and Aigner Alcantara make getting into and sitting in the car a delight. The redesigned interior is characterised by craftsmanship of the highest standard. With the ergonomically designed sports steering wheel in leather and Alcantara or leather and wood, keeping the Carlsson Aigner under control is a particularly pleasant tactile experience. Carlsson aluminium pedals and illuminated sill embellishers point the way to a world of sporting luxury.

Stainless-steel rear silencers: a sonorous note and improved flexibility

The Carlsson sports exhaust system not only produces a particularly powerful sound but also frees up more power. The rear view of the Carlsson Aigner CK65 is dominated by four tailpipes in that typical Carlsson look, which impress through a sonorous, sporting note. Compared to the standard product, the Carlsson system is characterised by less back-pressure and an optimised pipe run. The result: more torque and a higher output.

Ultra-lightweight forged wheels for greater ride comfort

Compared to the standard cast wheels, the Carlsson Ultra Light aluminium wheels weigh around 50 % less. Thanks to this reduction in mass, they tend to tramp less than cast wheels (lower unsprung weight) and thus provide optimum contact with the road. For the driver, this means improved handling and, therefore, higher driving safety and greater ride comfort. The Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge” rolls on 2/11 Ultra Light forged wheels with the dimensions 9 x 21″ with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 265/30 ZR21 tyres at the front and 10.5 x 21″ with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 295/25 ZR21 at the rear.

Carlsson aerodynamic parts made of real carbon fibre

The new Carlsson aerodynamic kit underscores the elegant lines of the standard model. However, the Carlsson Aigner CK65 is distinguished by an independent appearance – both outside and inside. The front spoiler and rear-apron lip are finished in the diffuser look typical of Carlsson while the striking rear spoiler not only looks good but also improves the handling of the luxury coupé at high speeds. Carlsson’s exclusive aerodynamic components are made of high-grade, ultra-lightweight real carbon fibre as used in Formula 1 racing.

Electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering kit

Exclusively for the Carlsson Aigner CK65, Carlsson offers the electronic C-Tronic® SUSPENSION lowering kit, which reduces the ride height by approx. 30 mm. The driver can be assured that lowering the car gives it a significantly more sporting appearance. However, Carlsson’s C-Tronic® SUSPENSION not only lowers the car but also, thanks to the sophisticated technology, interacts intelligently with the road conditions. On poor surfaces with significant suspension jouncing, the vehicle height is automatically adjusted to ensure sufficient suspension travel for constant ride comfort. For the driver, the effect of the lower ride height is noticeable through a reduction in body roll and considerably more agile handling. In a nutshell: the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION also stands for greater driving pleasure.

Moreover, the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION also ensures that, in the case of speeds in excess of 120 km/h, the car is not lowered further than the maximum permitted for a standard car. In other words, so that it never drops below the minimum ride height thus ensuring adequate suspension travel at all times. Incidentally, lowering the car reduces aerodynamic drag and cuts lift by decreasing the amount of air that can flow beneath the vehicle.

Unlimited individuality

The Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge” is available in a variety of two-tone finishes. The exclusive small series is limited to ten cars, all fully equipped with Distronic, navigation system, hifi system, Aigner full-leather appointments, two-piece 21″ aluminium wheels, Carlsson carbon-fibre aerodynamic parts, C-Tronic® SUSPENSION, engine conversion and other extras. The gross price in Germany is € 365,000 in Germany and € 305,000 for export.

The Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge” can be ordered from any Carlsson dealer. According to Carlsson, options have already been taken out by customers in Russia, Japan and the USA.
