Mercedes-Benz India Sells 125 S-Class Cars in 16 Days

Based on the source, Mercedes-Benz India just launched its S-Class sedan valued at around $250,000 per unit. Almost immediately after launching, buyers swooped in until purchases reached 125 units in only 16 days. This definitely came in as a surprise to the three-pointed star brand’s Indian dealership.
The car industry of India has been declining for the past two years. However, it seems like the demand for luxury cars in the country seems to be accelerating.
It should be noted that last year, Mercedes-Benz India had displayed a sales growth of 32 percent. This makes 2013 the most successful year so far of the brand’s Indian network.
Will Mercedes-Benz India Get Another Double-Digit Sales Growth This Year?
Eberhard Kern, the managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India stated in last year’s interview that they are aiming for another double-digit growth again this 2014.
Although it is still too early to tell whether Mercedes-India can achieve such feat again, a report from the Confederation of Indian Industry said that the luxury car segment in the Indian market is expected to experience an average growth of 15 percent for the next three years due to overwhelming demand from the elite sector of the country.
So, basing on the forecast of the organization, the target of Kern may is very likely to be attained this year.
