Mercedes Source Says They Are Looking at Producing a Small Car and a Mini-MPV
Clarissa February 25, 2012In an article by AutoCar, it is reported that Mercedes-Benz is eyeing to produce a three-door hatchback that can compete with VW’s Scirocco. This small car is likely to be included in the A-Class range, but nothing is sure yet.
Aside from the small car variant, a long B-Class is also being planned. The car, the article said, will fit 7 people because of the third row that is going to be added to it. If this happens, it might be the company’s entry to the mini-MPV segment.
Both cars, according to the source will be launched in 2015, that is, if they choose to produce them. If they do, the insider said, “they will more likely be added to the portfolio in the subsequent generation once we have established our new small car platform and ramp up production at our Hungarian plant.”
