SL-Class

mb-slc-lead.jpg
Winding Road is reporting that Mercedes is in the works to create a sports car that will directly compete against the Porsche 911 and the new R8 from Audi. They are reporting that it would be named the SLC, as it will be based on the next-gen SL, but what the C stands for is a mystery. I don’t really know what to think about this news, as I thought the new SL would have been put up to the task to compete against the Porsches, and the M10 (baby SLR) was to compete against the R8, Gallardo. Who knows maybe the rumored M10 is now the SLC.

I don’t know, maybe our Insider can help us out here.

It would make sense that it would be a coupe. SLCoupe. Lighter weight, less flex

I don’t get the point, i looked the photos on the link. I see a car that looks extremely like the CL and i see a SL with a C-coupe front…
What is it gonna look like this SLC???

Tim, you might be right with the Coupe thing. But I don’t believe they are creating a totally separate car. They will come out with a new SL that will be convertible, and this time they will also have a covered version, which may be this one.

The rims at the rear are the ones of the CLK DTM Cabrio.

However I’m surprised to see the registration plate from Augsburg (A) while all the AMG cars generally are registered in Stuttgart (S) or Ludwigsburg (LB).
