mercedesbenz_in_sl_21.jpeThe residents of the virtual world Second Life can look forward to a new highlight on May 11, 2007 when the avatars in the “Mercedes Benz Vans” online world (coordinates: 1060.1050, or can be located by entering “Mercedes-Benz Vans” in the Second Life search mask) will be able to visit the upgraded Mercedes-Benz Vans site and take a detailed look at the commercial vehicles in the online world.
As a result, Mercedes-Benz is set to become the first commercial vehicle supplier in Second Life.

As part of its strategic project “Future communications”, Mercedes-Benz Vans has been tracking and assessing communications trends since 2003. Key areas such as “virtual communities” and “social media” have been identified thanks to this project. The Mercedes-Benz Vans’ virtual presence in Second Life is just one example of this strategy. Spurred on by remarkable innovation, the extensive impact of viral marketing as well as the ability to directly target and contact prospective customers, the virtual van sales and service outlet is being further expanded and sensibly linked to existing online activities.
